Former dutch national team coach Bert van Marwijk calls for players and coaches to boycott Qatar. 'There are plenty of reasons to boycott Qatar....[..] 'Everyone thinks we can't exert any influence. That's the worst part about this case.' according to van Marwijk, reports the dutch daily newspapers 'Spits'. I do appreciate a coach that wishes to stand up against FIFA but I doubt if he would have started an initiative if he were still in charge of the Dutch team. And by the way why doesn't he start the initiative himself since he has plenty of time to fight for rights after Hamburg sacked him.

In the same week that the FIFA anounced a 'Power of Football' contest Blatter sat down with a delegation of the Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI) and affiliated national unions to discuss the progress made on matters related to the working conditions and labour rights of migrant workers in Qatar. It is a big shame that FIFA doesn't use 'the Power of Football' to enforce acceptable labour rights before even accepting a bid from a country that wishes to organise a World Cup. An organisation as big as the FIFA can not say in fairness that they had no clue about the labour conditions in Qatar.
