Inspirational Aminu Mohammed scored from the spot after he was felled inside the box to open the scoring.
But Mayron Tristao leveled for the Brazilian outfit to send the game into penalty shootout.
They face Borussia Dortmund who eliminated Juventus with a 2-0 win on Friday.

Share ...#wafasc U16 reached the quarter-finals of the 2015 Next Generation tournament after beating RB Leipzig 1-0 in their final Group D match on Wednesday.
Aminu Mohammed, who was voted best player at last year’s tournament, scored the only goal which gave the side four points to advance.
Earlier, Mohammed and Richard Danso scored as coach Sadiq Abubakar’s side drew 2-2 with Spanish side Valencia.
#wafasc U16 will face Red Bull Brasil on Thursday.
