James is currently one of the New Zealand Premiership’s best midfielders, a powerful athlete with good technique, a complete passing range, and a finishing ability (3 goals, 3 assists 17/18 season for Canterbury United).
Predominantly a holding midfielder he can also play box to box or centre back.
James left home at age 14 to pursue a football career, and played with EIF (Finland), Stode IF (Sweden), GIF Sundsvall, Nomads United (NZ), Thunder Bay Chill (Canada) and Ventura County Fusion (US). He took a 3-year hiatus to pick up a degree, playing NCAA Division 1 with Green Bay and Drake.
James has the vision to dictate games offensively with penetrating passes to breaking attackers, or by holding the ball in the midfield. He also positions well off the ball and uses his physical strength to dominate on defence.
Maturity and experience in someone only 24 years old will make him an effective leader for years to come.
Off the field James loves to contribute to the football community. He has coached at the youth level for several clubs and looks forward to supporting the growth of professional football in Canada. He is a hard working person who would serve your club well on and off the pitch.
