Jonah Abutu began his youth career with Abaya Football Academy based in Gboko Benue State, Nigeria.

Sharks F.C. (2006-2008)[edit]
In the 2007/2007 season Jonah Abutu sign 2 years Professional contract with the Nigeria Professional Football League side Sharks F.C. based in Port Harcourt Nigeria. He made 47 match appearance for the club and scored 14 goals and he helped them to clinch 3rd Place in the 2007/2008 Confederation Cup.

Bayelsa United F.C. (2009-2010)[edit]
On 10 January 2009, Jonah Abutu pen a year contract with another Nigeria Professional Football League side Bayelsa United F.C. based in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, Nigeria helping the side to make Semi Final list in the CAF Champions league 2009/2010. He made a total appearance of 27 for the club and scoring 4 goals as a Defensive Midfielder.
