“ Mateja is a creative midfielder with a lot of overview. He has dual nationality, Dutch and Serbian. Mateja's preferred foot is left. He is a versatile, unselfish player who contributes both offensively and defensively. He is also communicative and takes the lead in coaching his fellow players.

“ As a little boy, Mateja started playing football at VV Spijkenisse in the Netherlands, where it did not take long before scouts noticed his exceptional talent.

Mateja was scouted by Sparta Rotterdam at the age of 10, where he played in the youth teams from 2012 to 2014. After this he made a nice switch to Feyenoord, where he played for the U13 and O14 from 2014 to 2015.

From 2017 to 2019, Mateja played at Excelsior in the O16 and O17, before moving to FC Dordrecht, where he played in the U19 and O21 from 2019 to 2021. He made his debut for FC Dordrecht in the Kitchen Champion Division.

In 2021 he made a transfer-free transfer to the Bulgarian Neftochimik Burgas, in the 2nd division of Bulgaria. In the period 2021-2022 he played 13 matches and scored once and provided 3 assists.

In 2023 to 2024, Mateja played for Peyia 2014 FC, in the 2nd division of Cyprus, where he built a life with his girlfriend. In 9 games he scored 4 times and provided 2 assists. In a winter transfer window of 2024, he moved to ASIL Lysi, also in the Cyprus 2nd division. Here he played 11 games and provided 2 assists. At this moment Mateja is playing for Digenis Akritas Morfou, 2nd division in Cyprus and he is doing very well
