FIFA suspended Mali on Friday after the sports minister sacked the executive committee following allegations of fraud. The Mali minister of sport Housseini Amion Guido however has no intention to tolerate fraud because FIFA has a dubious rule that says that governments should not intervene in their country’s football association: “We are a sovereign state, which can not accept to be dragged around by a sporting body, however powerful it is. Mali also has the right to enforce the rules in its country (..) We understood that FIFA will not be the solution to this crisis and so as an act of sovereignty we decided to dissolve the governing body of the Malian Football Federation”
