A former FIFA official has filed an ethics complaint against the organization’s president, Gianni Infantino, above, accusing him and other officials of trying to block the governance committee’s work. The complaint by the professor, Joseph Weiler, was revealed the same day the former chairman of FIFA’s governance committee, Miguel Maduro, told a British parliamentary hearing that Infantino; the FIFA secretary general, Fatma Samoura; and others tried to dissuade governance officials from blocking Russia’s deputy prime minister, Vitaly Mutko, from running for a position on the organization’s ruling council.
