The 2017 semi finals and finals of the UAE Schools Cup, Streets Cup and Girls Challenge will take place on 11 and 18 March. These tournaments for U14 and U16 players are an initiative of the High Performance Centre set up by the Spanish La Liga. The best players will be selected for an additional trial on 25 March at the HPC. The HPC will then select a few players who will be able to enjoy top level training until they turn 18 under supervision of Spanish coaches at the HPC in an effort to deliver professional players.
Brendan Rogers touched an interesting subject this week. An interesting (but not totally new) idea when one considers that the transfer windows have been created to ensure teams are not able to change their team at any given (vital) moment of the competition. A team that bought the wrong players …… tough luck sit it out till the next transfer window. If one is of the opinion that the fairness of a competition is has to be guaranteed via transfer windows it is normal to apply the transfer window regulations also to the signing of coaches.

If this doesn't put a smile on your face what will.
Eric Okopu scored yesterday for Al Nasar against Al Arabi. Since Eric Opoku and fellow Ghanaian Ernest Barfo joined Al Nasar early this year the club is in the winning mood.
Mohammed Yakubu scored yesterday for Azam. The ambitious Tanzanian club signed the 21 year old Ghanaian defender December 2016. Yakubu has been part of the U17 and U20 Ghanaian national team. Due to a weird move of Spartaks Jurmula who signed him but never applied for his registration with the Latvian football federation Yakubu has missed one year of competition football. That he did not loss he class he showed for Aduana Stars and now for Azam.
February a slow month? Why do so many people always say the market is over after January? 1,555 international transfers took place last month which is considerable less than the 2,361 in February 2016, but not exactly quite. Nevertheless with $ 1,149 million clubs have spent more money the first two month’s of this year than in 2016 when only $ 971,2 million was spent. There are still some big markets open so it will be interesting to see what March will bring.
